1. WordPress May Disable Google FLoC On Websites Automatically (BleepingComputer)

WordPress today revealed that it plans to regard Google’s latest FLoC tracking technology as a security issue and plans to ban it on WordPress pages by default. WordPress states that in further versions it will start to ban it. WordPress has suggested that a configuration might be added to enable admins to control when FLoC is allowed.

2. Ad Revenue Of Digital Publishers Is Dramatically Up In Q1 (NYT)

Ad revenue of publishers, including Bloomberg media, Insider, Vice, Bustle Digital Group, and Axios has dramatically increased in Q1. Subscriptions are one of the reasons for this rage and the majority of publishers turned into subscription mode. Businesses of all sorts are also pouring money into advertising and digital ads got the major slice.

3. Clubhouse Raises Series C Funding From DST Global, Tiger Global, And Others (MoneyControl)

Clubhouse has closed a new Series C round of financing — led by Andrew Chen with participation from major investors DST Global, Tiger Global, and Elad Gil. About the fact that Clubhouse did not announce the amount of investment, some sources say that the organization would be valued at $4 billion.

4. VAB Demands For Third-Party Audit of Nielsen’s Ratings (Variety)

CBS, ABC, NBC, and other TV networks are now calling for an audit of Nielsen’s TV ratings as they have concerns over Nielsen’s handling of TV usage and measurement data. The VAB, an industry group that represents the TV networks, is demanding that Nielsen should submit to a third-party audit from Ernst & Young.

5. Irish Privacy Watchdog Files Suit On Facebook For Data Violation (TechCrunch)

Digital Rights Ireland (DRI) is commencing a lawsuit against Facebook alleging that it has violated personal data protections outlined by the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is related to a user data leak, which leaked information of 533 million accounts on Facebook in 2019, but was unveiled recently.

6. Facebook To Announce A Suite Of Audio Products (Vox)

Facebook is planning to announce a series of products under the umbrella of “social audio”, including an audio-only version of Rooms, a product that will let groups to interact with speakers on a virtual “stage”, a product that will let Facebook users record brief voice messages and post them and a podcast discovery product that will be connected with Spotify.

7. India’s Razorpay Triples Valuation To $3B Before Southeast Asia Launch (TechCrunch)

On Monday, Indian venture Razorpay raised $160 million in its Series E funding round, which valued the startup at $3 billion. In October 2020, in the Series D funding, it raised $100 million, which valued it at $1 billion. It had become the first Y Combinator-backed Indian Startup to reach the much sought-after Unicorn member.
